When a Piece Finds a Life Beyond

There are moments in this journey that quietly remind me why I create—and why this work matters to me far beyond materials or technique.

Recently, a customer reached out to me whom I hadn’t seen in years. We went to the same undergraduate school, and she was a year ahead of me. I still remember her clearly—not just her face, but her presence. She always carried the sweetest smile and the most positive, steady energy. Life took us in different directions after graduation, and although we reconnected briefly years ago when she had questions about the professional licensing path I was on, we hadn’t truly crossed paths since.

She told me she would be visiting the United States for a short time and wanted to support my little studio. During her visit, she chose the Carnelian bracelet—the one inspired by fall leaves and the quiet courage they represent.

That piece has always been meaningful to me. It was inspired by a street I pass often, lined with trees that shift color each fall. To me, those leaves symbolize courage, beginnings, and the decision to keep moving forward even when the path ahead feels uncertain. That bracelet marked a moment in my own life when I was stepping into something new, trusting myself without having all the answers.

Yesterday, she messaged me again.

She shared that one of her family members she had come to visit is currently undergoing cancer treatment. She decided to gift the Carnelian bracelet to her, hoping it would carry courage, strength, and a sense of breakthrough during this difficult season.

Reading her message stopped me in my tracks.

I never imagined that something created in my small studio—something born from my own reflections and uncertainties—could find its way into someone else’s life in such a deeply meaningful way. That this bracelet could move beyond my story and become part of someone else’s strength, hope, and healing.

This is the part of creating that feels sacred to me. When a piece leaves my hands, it no longer belongs only to me. It becomes layered with new stories, new memories, and new meaning. And sometimes, those meanings are far greater than I could ever have planned.

I hold this story close as a reminder: what we create carries more than color or form. It carries intention. It carries emotion. And sometimes, it carries courage exactly where it’s needed most.

Fall Leave Courage

“It was inspired by a street I pass often, lined with trees that shift color each fall. To me, those leaves symbolize courage, beginnings, and the decision to keep moving forward even when the path ahead feels uncertain.”

With hands and heart,
Juliana
